The Amazing World of Gumball is back?

The Amazing World of Gumball is back after several years. What does this mean?

The amazing world of Gumball is back with a season 7 and a new name, The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball. The teaser was posted only a couple of days ago, on May 19, and the buzz it has created is insane. Personally, TAWG was my favorite show as a kid; it made me want to work at Cartoon Network, and overall was a unique show with references that remain relevant today, and its unconventional animation style. I am personally so excited for this reboot, however, I do have some fears and concerns. What if the humor is not the same, the characters are different, and the overall vibe and essence of the show is gone? Side note: I completely forgot that Disney now owns Hulu, which means they also now own Gumball,. which is probably where my fears are coming from. Not all of Disney’s remakes/reboots have been ideal in my opinion, cough* Snow White, Mulan, Lion King, etc. cough* However, from the teaser, it looks like things will remain the same based on the crazy expressions and humor.

In the teaser, we see the Watterson boys covered in dust waking up and realizing they’ve been sleeping for seven years and are late for school, and decide to nap for another 5 because they’re already that late, so what’s the difference? Then we see their house, grey and gloomy, and it shows the original logo of Gumball glitching out and being replaced with the new one.

The Synopsis for this show is now:

Welcome back to Elmore, where the laws of reality are a joke, and family life is anything but ordinary. Whether he’s battling an evil fast food empire, facing off against a sentient AI in love with his mom, or trying to stop Banana Joe from wearing pants— Gumball drags Darwin, Anais, and the rest of Elmore along for the ride. With even wilder stories, bigger twists, and surreal humor, they had to rename it: The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball.

The show’s creator left in season 6 but will be back as an executive producer for season 7. Hopefully, most or at least some of the writers return as well. Also, from my research, I’ve found that Nicole, voiced by Teresa Gallagher, and Richard, voiced by Dan Russell, will be returning, while the Watterson kids will have new voices, which makes sense and isn’t the first time they’ve changed the actors. The series is set to launch later this year, though the exact date is unknown.

Supposedly, there will be 40 episodes this season. It is available to watch on Hulu, and if you are outside of the US then you can watch it on one Cartoon Network’s international channels or HBO Max outside of the U.S. I don’t think it will be available for broadcast, which means you will only be able to watch it on streaming platforms. And since the previous seasons are already on Hulu, it just makes sense to continue it there.

To conclude, I’m very excited for it and have high hopes, and will definitely be tuning in.
